It's our duty to do our best to right these "injustices". People aren't stupid... it's just that history gets lost and forgotten, and it often takes someone who is passionate (& tactful) to incite a new interest in it.
There was a large, and very impressive, hand-tinted photograph hanging in a local hotel and I was totally chagrin to find zero information about it written anywhere. So the next day I emailed the general manager there and offered to do the research. She was ecstatic and here we are about 6 months later with all the information and I'm just putting the finishing touches on it so that a plaque can be made and hung next to it.
