here's a link but do yourself a favour and type his name in youtube. from memory there's at least two doco's ...

on this small video he is candid about his conceptual thinking and methodology. it seems he negotiates a nice tension between modernist aesthetic concerns and conceptual framework methodologies.

any other fans/students of contemporary b/w photography out there?

I like his work. There is a documentary about him, only a short clip of it on YT. The DVD is quite expensive, about $70 & only runs half an hour or so I think. I don't like hos work that much.

el watcho, your link has disappeared? I saw his seascape photos at the MFA, big fan. Also really like his Theaters. Not so sure about the lightening stuff.

I find Daido and Araki interesting as well, not sure if I would consider myself a fan of contemporary B/W though. I think Sugimoto is the only one I can say I have seen I enjoy ! Dare I say, what are some others you folks appreciate (that I might then too!)
