Hi all,

Trust you are well.

I need some of your advices.

I am going in a tropical area where it is dry, and, i want to take this time my rangefinder with me with some rolls of Tmax 100 & tri-x.

I know that is important to keep non exposed film in the fridge so i imagine that the T° can do some influence on the negs.

What are these influences ?

What happen if i have to keep the camera loaded in my bag, all the day, with 28° ~ 30° and then something like 18° during the night. For about 1 month.

What can be the damage and how can i try to avoid it ?

Many thanks for your help

Cheers

Rom

Don't worry you won't have a problem. I shoot when it's 40°C + at times, my film is stored in the coolest place in our apartment 28°-30°C at time I can't use the the refrigerator as we need it for food :D

Should add that some film's been stored 3 years in those Summer conditions and when exposed & processed there's no difference to the films shot/kept in the UK, or used here in the winter.

I wouldn't be too concerned except for maybe leaving it in a car during a hot day (50c +). I've never had issues with black and white film, but color on the other hand--specifically slide--you can definitely get some strange results.

As a side note, when I do my more extensive summer trips here in the American Southwest, I keep BW in a cooler and then sometimes will be out hiking with it for days on end, put it back, and take it back out, back in...etc. The temp change would be between 5c to 45c in a given day. No problem thus far.

Have a fun trip.

I usually keep a camera loaded with Tri-X in the glove box of my car---it can take several months to finish a roll, and summer temperatures in the car get hot enough to melt titanium. OK, maybe not literally, but it feels like it; certainly it spends a lot of time well over 40 C. I've never had a noticeable problem with one of these rolls (other than the photos being kind of lousy, but I can't really blame that on the temperature).

For the conditions you're talking about, I wouldn't worry about it at all.

30 C shouldn't be a problem. Try and keep whatever bag or container with the film out of direct sunlight when you can, especially if the bag is dark. If it's going to be a in a closed, parked car, keep the bag shaded and crack a window or two open if security conditions permit.
Otherwise, don't worry about it.
Like some of the other posters, I've worked in temperatures of 40C+ with no problems.

Right now, it's snowing here, going someplace where it's 40 or even 30 sounds nice.

Hey all,

Thanks for all advices.

It's nice to see that i can take it without worried too much. That's true we all love our films, and see everywhere that we have to be very very careful with it. It seems that they are more strong than we imagine.

Will be great to have my rangefinder with me in my pocket.

Many thanks

All the best
