Hi! I am a high school photography teacher , that is new to dark room photography. We are starting to develop film and make prints in our previously neglected dark room. Many of our film cameras are broken. The problems range from broken light meters, loose film advance levers, etc. We have many different cameras, so I am trying to figure out how to fix them for the kids. The most common camera we have is the Vivitar 3800 N. Many times the film advance lever doesn't work. Any help is welcome. I am totally overwhelmed.

Are the students insuring the film is properly loaded, the film leader is inserted into the take up spool securely?

The Vivitar 3800N is a very new model. I think it's newer than my newest camera the Nikon F5. I think you need to teach the students to take care of the cameras too.
