Why would there be a problem? Maybe I don't understand your question.

Remeber to play with the focus a bit as you probably already know about IR film.

Yes, I've used HIE in an M6. It is ideal for IR film because you can put an 87C or 093 filter over the lens and still see what you are doing. With an 093 I set the TTL meter to 800 or 1600 and develop in Diafine. (there was a url link here which no longer exists) is an old thread about focussing.

Best,
Helen

Thanks for the quick replies, everyone!

I read that the M7 is more light tight than an M6, so I thought maybe there were some problems with the M6, although I was a bit skeptical. I mean, it's a Leica, not a Holga. <----I have one of those, too!

I wouldn't bother reading from that source in future if I were you. All Leicas leak quite badly except for the digital ones, but even they have digitally-simulated light leaks.

Haha...yes, I was having difficulty seeing the difference between my Holga images and images taken with the 35mm Summilux! If it weren't for the different sizes, I'd be screwed!

I've used the combo of M6 with HIE, with no problems (other than my distinct lack of talent).

Don't be too hard on yourself! HIE can be tricky until you get used to it. I just put in my first roll of HIE in the M6 yesterday and can hardly wait for the prints!

The most difficult part is the load (and unload) in the Leica M camera. For the film I do not see any difference for a M6 or a M7. I am working with the last one and for IR, an E46 RG715 filter on the Elmarit 2,8/28mm. Up from 5,6 not a real problem with the focus, same for the Rollei IR-400 film which is much more easier to load in my 202 panorama.

Hehe...yes, the loading & unloading is a little tough compared to my SLR's, but I've been practising with a dummy roll & a changing bag.

I just got my prints back today, and I am impressed! I think I'm going to love this camera a lot! :D Now only if I could afford a BMW M6....

Here are some IR images I took with my M6 the other day.
