I got back into film in 2016 after finally getting a Rolleiflex 2.8E CLA's that my uncle had passed down a few years before. Medium format reminded me about what film could do, and since then I've dusted off my 35mm Nikon F2 photmic, and added a RB67 with the 50mm, 90mm, 150mm SF, and 250mm lenses. I've also got 2 m42 pentax lenses with the auto bellows and slide copier that I use with my dslr.

I'm an analytical chemist working on anti-infectives, so naturally the chemistry side of film and developers is interesting to me.

Currently I'm only able to develop and scan, but at some point would like to print in a darkroom as well as add a 4x5 camera to my collection

Welcome to APUG, from a fellow San Diegan!

I also shoot with a variety of gear from 35mm to 4x5, and have a darkroom here at home. There are several shops locally that carry film and darkroom equipment, Nelson Photo in Point Loma being my favorite.

Lots of good advice and recommendations from the members here, especially for darkroom and processing.

thanks for the welcome

jimjim, I haven't been into nelsons since they moved to midway. I need to get down there. Have you been to Camera Exposure on Adams, he looked like he has a pretty good selection of used equipment. I've also used north coast photo in carlsbad for some processing before I started doing it myself, and will still probably use them for color. But, yes, this site has a ton of great info

Check out Dead Link Removed. Competitive prices, conservative ratings and a great return or exchange policy without and eBay hassles.

Yep, I buy a good portion of my film and darkroom supplies at Nelson's. They seem pretty committed to keeping it in stock, so I try to give them my business as much as possible. Unless I'm buying in bulk, the price difference isn't all that much over ordering from an online retailer. Plus it's nice if you need film or developer at the last minute...
Camera Exposure has a ton of used film gear, darkroom equipment and enlargers. His prices are a bit higher than KEH, but I've been able to deal with him (Ken) on a few items. Big plus is you get to handle the gear first before buying.

Welcome to APUG, wait until you get your own darkroom and switch focus from gear to developing film and printing. What a rush
