Just saying hi!

I am new to photrio but have visited a number of times this year to gain some insights.

I switched to an analogue hybrid workflow just over a year ago and have been enjoying learning to service cameras that i have found, bulk rolling film, home development and chemistry.

Recent interest has been in submin cameras and smaller negative sizes as well as cameras that mechanically or optically produce results different from the digital ones i am familiar with.

Here now as I have started darkroom work and more analog workflows!

Welcome. In case you haven't realized it yet, you are opening a door to another universe. Others explore this realm for many different reasons and with different goals in mind. You can explore away at:

I love this site and have used it extensively in my search for smaller pictures!

I have a lovely Yashica Ataron that has produced some great results and have been shooting lots of expired cine film through Minolta Auto 110 and Minolta 16

You said the magic words -- "great results". Unfortunately, on this "board" small cameras are relegated/denigrated to the Lo-Fi category -- which just perpetuates the myth.

Keep shootin' -- and you are always welcome to post your photos in the GALLERY at the SUBCLUB for the world to see.

I think there's a proposal to change the subforum name; IIRC @MattKing proposed a new name and I don't recall there was any problem with the proposal as such. So AFAIK it's a matter of @Sean changing the name of that subforum. I'm all for dropping the 'lo fi' label.

the GALLERY at the SUBCLUB
With all due respect, but if you want the Subclub.org gallery to alter sub-miniature cameras' undeserved reputation of lo-fi, then maybe it would be a good idea to (1) fix the many broken links and (2) upload new versions of the many images that presently are only available in 1990s resolution and 1880s digital image quality.

I'm not suggesting that. There are lots of people that are into that genre of photography, and many of those cameras are not small either -- like Polaroids, Diana's, Kodak box, pinholes. etc.

Thanks - I'll collect some of the best ones so far and propose them for the gallery

Yes, you're right. The lo-fi/subminiature conflation is conceptually fuzzy/confused.
