Now that I have my Hi-Matic 9's rangefinder window issues sorted I finally decided to try putting a battery in it. I used a 675 hearing-aid battery following the method suggested on Rick Oleson's site. It's getting juice, that's for sure, but it was clear right away that the readings are way off. Even in the dim light of my secret basement laboratory I was getting readings of something like EV 14 when the ISO set to 400 and outdoors it just goes to maximum. Even with the lens cap on it is showing EV 11.5. Take the battery out and the needle just disappears to the top. Obviously it's responding to light but needs some serious adjustment. I presume there has to be some reasonably simple way to adjust it by turning a screw somewhere but haven't been able to find out where such a thing would be located with some extensive searching online. Anyone know where such a thing might be?
