So, a little late, considering I missed the conference in my adopted hometown, but better late than never, right?

Quick sum-up: my day job involves shooting with those 'other' cameras, but my own time is spent with film (as were school and the first few years of my job in the newspaper world). Lately my film use has increased greatly, thanks to the purchase of a Linhof 6x7 Tech 3 1/2 (from what I can tell, anyway). I've been shooting mf for a while, on a tlr and a Mamiya Press, but the Linhof just feels...right.

So, there you go. With the recent purchase of some darkroom equipment, I expect to re-learn the joys of black and white, and learn all that stuff I wasn't taught in photojournalism school, which mostly involved D76, an Ilford print processing machine, and a 'have it done yesterday' mentality. Not the ideal situation for producing quality art prints, but it got me a job.

So that's that, I look forward to asking all kinds of dumb questions about chemistry, paper and darkroom processes (speaking of, if there are any great 're-beginner' darkroom web resources out there, feel free to pm). I suppose that about covers it.

Cool - Tranna photo reporter pounding the beat eh?

Greetings from a long-gone ex-Trannan. Wonder which paper you work for. Used to read the Old & Stale, Sun for street crime news. And for the Sunshine girl, natch. Hope you find APUG fun. Lots of fine photographers posting here, with a special interest in chemical brews, zones and fine technical points.

I'm at a community paper in the Beaches neighbourhood, and I'm sure I will enjoy APUG (I have been lurking for a few months). You may be long gone, but at least you still remember how to properly pronounce the city's name.

I'm slowly getting a special interest in technical points and the like, switching gradually from shooting slides and scanning, to black and white, darkrooms (just picked up a Durst 6x9 enlarger), and good old fashioned chemistry. I'm sure I'm in the right place to learn.

Pleased to see another GTA analog sort

I am out in the west end of Missisauga, so I am not sure if it is correct to say good to hear from someone in the beaches, or the beach. I know it si a hot polotical topic what to call the place if you live there.

I just hobby at this as a way to claim some me time with current work and family obligations. Not that the funds I have spent and rom that I have consumed in the freezer with materials would lead you to believe it is still a hobby.

If you are looking to brew any of your own chemistry , get in touch - that is one thing that I am happy to share my experiences with. Nick Zentena also does this and he is up in the Vaughan direction, I believe.
