... and other spots in between.

Long story short I took pictures while growing up and then got my first SLR in high school (A Minolta SRT-303 which is now a bit broken but still gets the job done).

I put the camera down for a while while in college but picked film back up about a year ago after moving back home to the suburbs of Rochester, NY.

I recently moved back out to Seattle but visit home often.

I have said broken Minolta, a Polaroid Land Model 100, and a Canonet G-III QL17. I also have my grandfather's Graflex Miniature Speed Graphic (2-1/4 x 3-1/4 with all the flash-related accouterments) and Minolta 16 QT... However I have yet to use either of them. However, I use his old light meter all the time.

My friend and I also recently bought a Beseler 23C enlarger for full nerdery and endless photo projects.

Welcome! I'm in Bothell, just Northeast of Seattle. I just started using again the Minolta srTsc-II that I used in my High School Photography class in the early 1980's. I shoot everything from 8mm movie film to 4x5.

Welcome to APUG

Seattle and Rochester have the same color skies, the color of the 16% gray cards. And both are the world's largest natural darkrooms.

It's extremely rare to find a Broken Minolta, so welcome!!

Seriously, the SRT- series are tanks, as though as a Nikon F or Nikkormat, how can you break one?

The main "problem" is that the light meter is broken. Part of the adventure has been learning how to use said old hand held light meter with the Minolta, and sometimes things are over exposed and sometimes things are under exposed but (especially with color) I get some interesting results that look like faded old photos, which is ok.

Plus I admittedly wasn't the most gentle with it when in high school and it got bumped and dropped and knocked around a lot. I was having some issues with frames being only partially exposed and a friend "modded" it a while back to fix the problem. Unfortunately too much time and too many drinks have been imbibed for my being able to remember exactly what was going on, but either way, it's a good time with fun results.

I've been meaning to take it into one of the shops in Seattle, which I happen to work near, but alas just keep forgetting to bring it with me before work and/or making the time to bring it in.

Welcome!

Does that mean you got several camera repairers in Seattle?

No, I haven't gotten anything repaired yet- But I work near a shop that does repairs and also restore/rebuild cameras as well. I have about 12 shots left on a roll of B&W in that Minolta, and once I finish it I'll take the camera in and have it looked at.

Oh man, I'm hoping to be able to afford a 4x5 camera by next year... I'd love to get into some larger format stuff.
