Hi to all!

I've been using 4x5 since I was 22, which was 22 years ago...EEGAD...I just realized that I've been at this for 1/2 my life!! I live at road's end on the North Coast of British Columbia, Canada, so my camera is used to huge snowfalls, monsoon rains and dank, dark, dripping forests.

Nature is my main subject matter. I have a day job I like that pays the bills, so I don't need to compromise my photography in any way (weddings, etc.) and have managed to keep my work a purely personal expression free from the pressure of having to change my way of seeing to increase print sales.

I'm looking forward to this...APUG appears to be the place for me!

Murray

Welcome

Murray-Would you like to do a house exchange? I could use some glacier forests right now! Welcome to APUG you'll be right at home here.
Regards Peter

Murray

Welcome from Norfolk, UK. APUG is a good place to be

Sounds like a plan. Bring some toasty long underwear though... it's so cold here the ocean is steaming and there's a line of ice on everything at the high tide mark.

Welcome Murray!
Well, I guess the phrase "frozen tundra" is one you are well familiar with! haha
APUG has a lot to offer, but it's biggest asset is this great global community! Hope to see some of those frozen shots!

Hi Murray

Welcome from Coquitlam. Which part of the immense North Coast do you hail from?

Dave

Hi there Dave; I'm in Kitimat, but have dragged my sorry butt & 4x5 gear all over this area.

Hi Deniz; Wood loves the cold!

Another welcome from accross the pond Murray :D

Welcome Murray. Another BC'r, this one from the snowfall capital of the world - well if it isn't Kitimat is a close competitor.
If you do analog you've found a home.

Hi Johnny, nice to meet you...ran any deflection lines in the Coast Range? (I spent a while as a compass-man before landing my letter carrier job).

Our record for snow here is 4 feet accumulated in 24 hours. Is yours bigger than mine? In those conditions you're really risking it all when setting up in the forest. I've never been hit by a "branchalanche" yet, but my bellows are going to be shredded for sure!

Murray

Added Later: Oops, missunderstood you Johnny...thought you were saying Eagle Bay was the snowfall capital...and really, I was only asking about the size of your accumulations...snow that is!

hi from the other end of the BC Coast...

Murray, you post prompted me to do some math. I came up with 51 years behind a camera.

BTW, terrific to see the replies from the other parts of BC. I only discovered this group lately and sure is nice to see that there are other folk in BC here.

Another "Welcome Murray" from the interior of BC. (Salmon Arm)

You should like this site...especially if doing 4x5.

Kind Regards,
