Hi all, I am brand new to this forum. I am 34 and have been shooting since I was 14 or 15, don’t recall. In 2004 I began my real conversion to digital with a film scanner and in February of 2005 I got my first and currently only dSLR. Last summer I opted to pay down some dept rather then keep a lot of my film cameras and a big part of my darkroom.

It was a good thing to do; I don’t regret it in the least. I much prefer to have the lower dept that I have today then the gear. With time, I will rebuild my darkroom, when I can afford it:wink: Meanwhile, I want to see if I can find a balance between the cost effectiveness of shooting digital with my love of shooting film.

What, specifically brought me here tonight was the need for a lab. In the big selling spree last summer I could not part with my beloved Nikon F3HP. Considering the dSLR went back to Nikon for the services advisory last week, I took this weekend as a chance to shoo the E-6 that has been collection dust in the frig for a year and half. There is nothing like shooting with a good old manual focus film camera, what a true pleasure! Man, on man, I cannot wait to see the results! For one thing, I need to see if I have lost my touch with exposure, not having the assistance of the modern matrix metering stuff. I think I did fine, though. I digress... Well, I took the E-6 to what a year or two ago was a drop off spot for a local lab last night, normally a same day turn around, they pick up in the morning and drop off in the afternoon. This afternoon went I went to pick it up, the same, undeveloped E-6 film was sitting there:sad: So, rather then spending more gas, I thought I would come here and ask:

Where do you all send your E-6? I would much prefer to pay a bit extra for high quality, but I hate it when they charge outrange shipping charges. Any suggestions?

My long-term goal is to see if it is economical, practical, and/or possible for me to do film capture and digital printing in the portrait business I am working on building.

Good Evening, Sam,

We have a local lab in St. Louis (Allied Photocolor) which still does a quick E-6 turnaround. Sorry it's not very convenient for you; the loss of such service, unfortunately, continues.
