Photography has, over the years, become a semi-profession for me. No, I don't have any type of art degree, but I'm enrolled in a photography school via correspondence.

I have shot many weddings over the years. Ironically, my first paid job was of a funeral. After that, I was asked many times to shoot funerals for families, mainly because they're a sort of family reunion.

Finally someone asked me to do their wedding and that door opened for me. I just recently started doing SOME weddings after a 10+ years lapse.
Oh well.

My studio is portable and mainly consists of JTL equipment. Still learning portrait photography in the studio. My other portraits are mainly done with existing light either indoors or outside, for now.

I am a healthcare provider by profession.

I've been doing photography since I was in the 5th grade MANY MANY years ago. I was bitten by the shutter"bug" and there is no cure!

I had my own darkroom while in college, but due to lack of space and the frustration of setting it up and taking it down, it's packed away for now. I just won a Jobo processor off eBay so maybe that will be more convenient for me.

I still process my BW negatives and scan them. However, it's been a while since I've done that. I am ready to get back to it. Currently doing my homework and re-learning what I've pushed back in my brain. I haven't forgotten it, just refiled it.

My favorite is BW. I helped to do some color while in college, but I prefer BW.

My subjects are mainly male nudes. I can't say enough about the beauty of the male body, but that's another topic. Models are hard to come by at the moment.

I look forward to being a part of this community. I mainly listen and learn.

I feel sort of funny saying "welcome" since I'm a newcomer, too... but, welcome.

(I have connections to one place in Arkansas... old friends in Eureka Springs. Are you near there?)

Steve,

Welcome to APUG from NYC. Nice to meet someone still using film to do weddings (and funerals).

Given your interest, you should soon meet up with Flying Camera here who also does male nude studies.

Hi there Steve and welcome to APUG. I look forward to seeing your work here (not only the nudes, but your other material too). Greetings from Washington DC. Finding models is a challenge even in the big city sometimes. You may want to take a look at Model Mayhem or One Model Place to find folks closer to your area who might be willing to pose for you.
