Well, I'm horrible at introductions, but I'll give it a shot, anyway.

I'm new to APUG, but not quite so new to photography, but I have been out of the photography game for a while. I'm looking to get back in to the art by finding a large format camera and doing contact prints since my avaliable space for a darkroom is fairly limited (I have a space about 8x10 or 8x12feet).

I am returning to college at 28 to finish up two B.A degrees (history and art history) that I abandoned quite a few years ago. I'm working as a barista now, and I'm also a hobbyist coffee roaster. I'm hoping to open up a coffee roastery at a local arts center called Lowe Mill (http://www.lowemill.net/).

Let me be the first to welcome you to APUG!

Welcome to APUG!

I am sitting here enjoying some Ethiopian Yirga Cheffe Kochore home-roasted on Tuesday while getting my morning "fix" of APUG
Some people here use coffee to develop their film too....

Thanks.

Welcome! Coffee and the arts are a perfect match. We can certainly help you get set up with large format, so dive in, and good luck with your work and education.

Thanks. I dont know how active I'll be at first; I'm searching for a larger roaster, and that's gonna be my first priority before I buy any more cameras. A long time ago, I learned how to make black and white slides by reversal processing negatives; I still have my 35mm Pentax K-1000 as well as a pentax of the unapproved technology (that, fortunately, takes the old k-mount lenses, so I didn't have to buy new ones  ). I may get back in to that before jumping full force in to LF gear

Ethiopia is one of my favorite coffee-producing countries. I'm almost out of a 100 pound shipment of a specific Ethiopian Yirga Cheffe lot called Buna Ababa that I bought from Coffee Shrub. I've sold more than I've drunk, so it is a crowd pleaser among the few that buy from me; however, I think it's the most boring Ethiopian coffee I've ever had. I cant wait until the Coffee Shrub starts stocking more Sumatran. As much as I like East African coffees, nothing, imo, compares to a good Sumatran :D

Welcome to APUG.

Watch out for jnanian:D - he will have you diverting your coffee beans to film developing.

I'm glad I'm not the only coffee lover here.

Since I've generally got more green coffee laying around than I know what to do with, I might try developing with coffee. Maybe I'll be able to figure out which countries make the best coffee for film developing :D
