Just a quick introduction. I have been a keen photographer for eons, originally mostly 35mm slide, then medium format B&W, an in recent years mostly digital. Resident in SoCal (San Diego). Current project is to scan all my B&W negatives as I no longer have access to a darkroom. Next step is to break out the MF gear!

Shooting film and scanning is called "hybrid", and I did that for years until a co-worker gave me an enlarger and I built a darkroom around it. I'm in Escondido, so not far from you. Anyway, welcome to photrio!

Welcome. I’m originally from just up the road from you, across the LA County line in Long Beach but bailed on the crowds, commute, property values, and the like for Montana 31 years ago. My dad was navy and stationed in San Diego for 3 years in the 1960s on sea duty so was only in port 3 months out of the year. Rather than move us (again) he commuted on his time off. Can you imagine? It was a 90 minute drive back in those days.

I just finished scanning all my negatives and slides going back into the very early 1970s. It was quite the undertaking. About 15,000 images. It took me a year and a half, working on it bits at a time. Definetly worth the effort so go for it.
