It feels kinda rude to make posts without having introduced myself, so...

I just moved from San Diego to Ramona, CA. I'm still in San Diego County but am happily living in the country now. There's nothing quite like the perfume of "Eau De Cow" on a foggy summer morning to make you thankful you're no longer living in suburbia. It's much more photogenic up here too!!! Never at a loss for subject matter.

I primarily shoot with a Canham 8x10 but sometimes switch to the 4x5 back. I only have a couple of lenses that I use and they're nothing special, bordering on "I can't believe you're using that!" but they will have to do for now and besides, I have crazy mad skills with a 000 spotting brush.

I just finished building a brand new darkroom (my husband insisted that we had to build a house to go with it - so we did) that I hope to start using next week. There are still a couple of details to take care of and I'm sure I'll have some fine tuning to do along the way. I'll post some pictures when it's all ready. Now that the house project is done I am hoping to save some money for some nicer glass.

My film of choice is Ilford HP5 and before I had to give up my last darkroom, 14 months ago, I had just started to use rollo pyro in my JOBO. I love making platinum prints, which is why I moved up to 8x10 in the first place, and I can't wait to get back to it! My biggest fear is that I will have forgotten what to do once I get back into the darkroom. APUG is an amazing wealth of information and I'll try not to make a pest of myself with questions.

My real website blew up last year and I haven't bothered, YET, to rebuild it. Right now I'm just having everything forwarded to my commerce site but I hope to have the "fine art" site back up in the next few months. At least for now I can still have a few images on the other site.

Guess that's it, except to say I'm really glad to now be a part of this site.:D

Welcome! With a sense of humor like that, you should fit in just fine. I think I too have one of those "Can't believe you're using that" lenses, so don't feel bad.

I've always been told that size doesn't matter, but welcome from a medium format shooter anyway:D

Welcome from western Massachusetts. I'll be visiting your neck of the woods in a couple of weeks.

Welcome from the south-west coast of British Columbia, Canada.

You will like it here.

Welcome! Glad to have another 8x10 shooter on the forum. What lenses are you shooting with? There aren't too many unloved large format lenses around here.

Welcome, from a former San Diego resident. We moved away after two close calls with wildfires down there. Sure is beautiful and we do miss a lot about it. We'll just have to live vicariously through your photographs.

All the best,
Daniel

Thank you all for the warm welcome!
A few thoughts:

Yeah, it's not so much the size thing as it is the tilting and swinging. :D
Gene, if you're going to be anywhere near the San Diego area and want to shoot or even just grab some coffee let me know. If you need to use the darkroom, it's all yours.
Barry, my lenses aren't really bad, I just have a terrible case of lens envy. I have some friends on this list (who apparently are going to pretend they don't know me) that have more cameras and lenses than any one person should ever be allowed to have. I have a Caltar Pro Series 300mm and a Nikkor M 450mm.
I have a deep affinity for all things Canadian (someone has to... JK, really!!!). My husband has a gazillion Canadian cousins and there always seem to be several down here on holiday. I love them all!
Daniel, sorry you aren't here anymore. As you know, the last two fires hit Ramona really hard. I evacuated for the last one but I'm staying put in the future.

So, anyway, nice to meet you all! Thanks again for allowing me to come and play.

Hi, from the UK, glad you've joined us Tori, ladies have been some of the best photographers I have ever known, I hope you enjoy APUG as much as I do.

..."I can't believe you're using that!" ...

That kind of lenses seem to be growing in popularity lately. If pressed, I might be willing to concede that I may possibly be partially to blame for that.

Eau de cow, That's what makes the sweet corn sweet.

Welcome aboard. Those are great lenses if you only have 2! Look forward to seeing your work.
