My name is Callum.

I work full time in a reprographics shop but my main love and hobby is B&W film photography. I did a two year HND at my local college and last year opened up my very own darkroom in the local "art hub". I am running it as a club (evenings and weekends) so people can take out a membership and share the space and a love for film.

I shoot mostly 35mm although I do have some 120 cameras. I have a few cameras I like to shoot on and a medium format bronica.

I like to use Ilford film, chemicals and paper but thats mostly just habit from college. I also recently got a film scanner so I can start showing off the pictures that I've taken on my website and social media. New project is scanning it all in!

Welcome to APUG

A warm APUG welcome from the (currently) rainy West Coast of Canada!

I'm sure you'll find the site a well of information. Membership here runs the full spectrum from some astonishingly intelligent technical types to those of us more on the artistic end. Don't ever hesitate to throw out any analogue photography-related question: Chances are that someone here will have an answer for you in short order.

NB: In the event you should ever have any questions related to "that other method" of capture, please be advised to direct your queries to DPUG, our sister site.

Welcome!

What does HND mean?

Thank you  HND is a Scottish qualification meaning Higher National Diploma. It is the equivalent of the first year of a Photography degree so should I ever want to do the degree I can go straight to year two (or at least that is how it was explained to me)

Thank you to everyone who commented  can't wait to become a contributing member of the community. Having to get my head around how to work the website... Haven't been on a forum in a long time

Thank you  that is exactly why I joined, I heard this was the best place for advise. I know a fair bit but I still have so much to learn about darkroom processes. Didn't know about DPUG so I will definitely have a look at that

Have you registered your darkroom with Harman/Ilford? Go here:

Yes, I actually opened my darkroom because there was nowhere near Dunfermline. I'd have to go through to Edinburgh or Glasgow which is at least £10 travel on top of a membership  Hopefully other photographers can feel the benefit of mine!

Welcome Callum, from Australia. My father and his precedents all came from the Dumfries area.

Hey! My aunty, uncle and cousins stay in Melbourne :D in 2001 we went on an amazing holiday and visited Melbourne, Sydney and Cairns. It was amazing.

I as a long-time member still come across features new to me, or which I do not understand...
