I'm in the north metro. I used to go to the local camera swaps years ago, and even had a table of stuff to sell after a while. Put it all in boxes when digital took over and forgot how many I had (maybe 500?). Darn things seemed to reproduce in the dark. I've got 6 Argus C3s, but I've never actually bought one.

Hoping to get some advice on using them now.

Welcome aboard Dwight. Great group of smart people here. Anywhere near Duluth? The outlaws live in Cloquet.

Didn't see "I'm in the north metro."

You may be a collector, but you're not dead. You can reform! Go shoot film and you can wash away the bad collector karma.

Welcome aboard, Dwight! Time to get some of your fleet up and running and shooting film! If you lack instruction manuals for some of those cameras, see this site:OrphanCameras.com. Mike Butkus runs the site which makes available for download manuals for dozens of film cameras, both major and minor brands. If you find his manuals help you get your cameras up and running, send Mike a few dollars so he can keep up the good work.

Welcome to APUG Photrio!!

Thanks for the welcomes, I'll be shooting more, but that's not my talent, I've always been more interested in the history and fixing what I can.
Shooting is never anyone's talent before they start shooting regularly. You've got the gear, you can get the film. You can develop the shooting skills.

Even develop developing skills.  Imagine if he gets a case of GAS! :surprised:

Are there even any more camera swaps occurring? I've never been to one, nor do I recall ever seeing one being promoted. However, I'm not very much tapped into the local scene when it comes to other photographers.

I would go to Marshalltown Iowa every year for annual meet. It was great. Long gone, killed by Ebay and iPhone.

Thanks for the suggestion, I have used Mike's site as a resource in the past. A lot of the older websites are getting hard to find with a google search now.

The plan is to shoot as many as I can and post on the website I'm working on. That's not conducive to good photo practice, really should stick to one camera for that. I am pretty proud I was able to get some interesting shots out of my 1896 Ray camera.

Hi Dwight! I’m northwest metro of the Twin Cities! Work in Minneapolis proper. If you’ve got any medium format cameras collecting dust, I’m happy to give them a good home.

Functional? I’ve got a Yashica 124 that I enjoy and an old Billy-Record I recently “restored” but haven’t shot anything with yet. I’d love a budget friendly equivalent to a Pentax 67 or RB/Z67 if anything like that exists. I’ll admit I’m not super fluent in my camera models, just love variety!
