Hey everyone!

ziyanglai

Some people and local photographers that I've known calls me weird and unusual.. Read on and you'll find out why.

I'm a 16 year old high school junior. Instead of shooting digital like everyone else. I got addicted to film about 1.5-2 years ago. This is weird because I am not influenced by anyone at all... None of my parents have anything to do with the arts field. I learned photography by watching YouTube videos and messing around with a friend's Nikon D60. Oh and thanks to Google too.

I am a photographer on the school's yearbook staff. But that is just to keep me occupied. Outside of school, I shoot primarily landscapes and I've shoot for a few local magazines and designed posters for my school's dance show.

My first camera was a Canon T2i with a standard kit lens. After learning more about photography on that camera, I realized that the resolution is not enough for me. Since then, I have sold it and bought a Nikon F801. 2 months later, I found out about MF and LF. So I went out and purchased a Bronica ETRS. After seeing the somewhat still small negatives/slides. I got a Franke Rolfix 6x9 and a old Bucsh Pressman 4x5 with a 135 f/4.7 lens that came with the camera.

I develop my own MF and LF B&W film. I'm only using D-76 and HC110 for now, but plan to experiment with more developers later. I shoot color slides exclusively on MF and LF, RVP 50 and RVP 100 to be specific.

Throughout my MF and LF journey, I have found this site to be extremely useful. They have helped me a lot, particularly at understanding bellows extension, image circle, reciprocity failure, etc... I would like to thank every one that have participated in this forum. Your responses have helped me a lot in understanding the world of LFwhether directly or indirectly.

I am also looking for a spot meter and some 620 spoils. If you have one that you're willing to sell me, please send me a private message.

I hope to learn and contribute on this forum.

Thank you.

Welcome.

Here you are normal, and about 15 years ago you would not be weird or unusual anywhere. It's all relative

I think at your age, I didn't even know what reciprocity failure even meant; keep up the good work and welcome to apug!

Welcome

Ignore others you are normal the Lomo shops here are full of teenagers.

Yes they all have camphones as well - apparently a necessary courtship ritual thing.

I wish I would have made a photograph as that roundabot when I was 16.

For many years, I have used photography as a tool...
Well, you are 16. When did you start? Anyway, you know how to sell yourself...

Welcome to APUG. It's always encouraging to hear about younger people who have taken up film photography.

welcome!

nice website too
( although the watermarks are a bit distracting )

Yes, I thought so too.. I've been trying to do something about them lately, but haven't really gotten the chance yet. Right now I'm using a basic website that doesn't allow for much customization of coding. And if you click on the photo, it'll pop up a larger version of the photo, which you can just right click and save as. Huge watermarks are my only option right now. I plan to have a more secure website later, hopefully soon

Welcome to APUG. You have some very nice shots on your portfolio but you need to be less paranoid about stolen photos

Why?

He is doing the best thing for himself. There are good reasons that I no long post photographs on the internet. Even here I have been ripped off.

Well, his watermarks kind of screws up the photos in my opinion. And call me dumb, but I believe that if I not doing this for a living, I would release most of my shots under Creative Commons. But that's just me.
