Here we go again: Fujifilm price hikes and film cuts

Many, many years. I'm still shooting a stash of 10 years expired film, that wasn't stored properly at all.
Fuji is very reliable in the long run.

I have not shot color slide in some time but when I used to keep and store frozen Velvia and Sensia they were fine for quite a few years after expiration but ONLY if I developed exposed rolls promptly. I found that if I shot a roll and waited even a few weeks to develop I got color casts and such.

I never get bags like that when I buy film! Must be a Tokyo thing...

For what it's worth (which may not be a lot), I've been shooting Provia for 13 years now - first with the 100 and 400F, and then of course the 400X. I've never been overly worried about my films - I usually keep them in the fridge, and they travel to hot countries in SE Asia (of course passing through carry-on scanners), but I never shoot all that I bring, so they go back in the fridge, and then I shoot some more, and travel some more, and put more back in the fridge. I've been doing this for years and have not noticed any changes or colour shifts in the film. I just finished shooting the last of my expired film (some about 5 years past date), so the experience is pretty recent, but YMMV.

OF course they loved it more when they still made stuff in 800 speed as shown on the bag. Not sure if "Venus 800" is a companion to superia 800 or something else.

Fuji keep stating how committed they are to film and within the next month or so of their most recent statement discontinue half the range.

Better that than going out of business by putting money in to products that do not sell. I hate to see films disappear, formats become unavailable, ... , but I still want the film companies to stay in business and support our addictions.

Hi,

I've asked the responsible manager for film of Fujifilm Europe, and he said this price increase will not happen in Europe.
Seems to be Japan only.

Went to Yodobashi to pick up some film before the price increase - I'm assuming it will go into effect tomorrow as the shelves are completely empty of all Fuji products.

Luckily it appears that the online store still has plenty available, so I'm putting in an order tonight. I'm even debating adding film that I don't usually shoot - like 220 Provia and Velvia - just because it seems like the thing to do. In a way it feels like all Fuji products are going the way of Provia 400x, not just a price hike. I'm a little surprised that Provia 400X is completely gone. I thought it might last until the end of the year (or more), but it's gone. Gone. I really should have stocked up more, even to (there was a url link here which no longer exists), when I had the chance. And Xtol - now around $20 a bag, compared to about $7 for D-76. But that's another story.

Not really, they have bigger fridges behind counters with more film. That is sold out. Everyone was buying up the film. I even got myself big fridge to store all of my ~230 pro packs of 400x On top of that I have stocked up on pro400h/pro160ns and other slide films. Anyway, people were buying film up and different ones ran out at different times.

Doubtful is the product is still readily available online.

It's now October 1st and the prices have gone up.
