Herbal Materials to Develop BW Films?

Hello..
I want to ask what kind of herbal materials that can used to develop BW films? Sometimes I used coffee to develop, but now I want to try the something new.. I heard that tea can used to develop.. That's true or not? Anyone can help me to find the recipe?

I've gotten into wine-making, and some of it doesn't turn out as wine... all I need is an herbal fixer and I'm set.
 
Piperadine found in black pepper can be used as an antifoggant. Early photographers extracted it with ether. I have the instructions somewhere in a very old photography magazine.

I'd forgotten about that thread. Quite entertaining! I wished that the shallot experiments had gone further but they just sort of ended in the spin-off thread about them.

i've a persian friend who cooks with dried persian shallots --- museer ..
they are like heaven on earth !

i imagined they will save photography too

maybe the illusive darkroomexperimente will return with additional
exotic and edible developers !

( i hope so too !! )

I have a big garden and most years I grow onions, green onions, and garlic. I think next year it's time to try shallots . I'll check but mostly likely plant in the fall....

Woww..really?!! Did you ever tried? What's the recipe? I always using coffee to develop but now I was bored and I want to try something new..

When I developed with caffenol , my film is always brown..and I use scanner to make it grey (black and white mode). Anyone can explain to me why my film is always brown, not grey..

I assume you are speaking about the silver image and not an overall brown stain in the emulsion. Very fine particles of silver appear brown rather than black. This is the principle used in designing warm tone papers and developers. Some people comment on the brown image color in Xtol developed negatives. It is due to the finer grain produced by an ascorbate based developer. For many years developers like Ethol UFG used the developing agent chlorohydroquinone for the same reason. It has to do in part to the redox potential of the developing agent.
