Help with new 28mm lens on Contax G2

I just purchased the 28mm lens that goes with the Contax g2 body and I have run into a few issues. When I mount the lens in will not focus in MF or AF modes and the shutter will not fire. I bought the lens from a reputable seller and it worked on my camera a few days earlier before I decided to buy it. Anyone know what the issue might be?

And the batteries are good?

Do other lenses work on this body? I've owned and used a Contax G2 for years with a full set of G2 lenses (21/28/45/90) and I've never seen this issue you describe to be just a lens-only issue though I suppose it's not impossible.

ha that happen one time with one of my g2 lenses. I cleaned the contacts on the body and lens, never had a problem again. I clean them every now and again.
