Greetings all,
I have just acquired an Ilford Multigrade 500 head along with the HEAVY linear power supply / voltage regulator and controller box in a lot of odd stuff. The difficulty is that someone mistreated the head and I think it needs some repairs:
1) When opening the front cover of the head, the plastic? assembly on the left which holds the colored filter against the halogen bulb is partially distorted and has obviously suffered a lot of heat. I suppose this must be due to the blower fans partially failing or something like that. (Haven't connected this to power). It probably could use another one of these assemblies.
2) Since I don't have a manual yet, I don't know what is supposed to be holding in the two colored filters in their little housings. I found them lying in the bottom of the head, apparently unhurt. This leads to..
3) One side had a glass rectangle which is smaller than the colored filters itself. Is this heat absorbing glass and if so why is it smaller than the colored filter? How is all of this supposed to fit together in a correctly working head? Perhaps someone out there could post a small picture of what things should be like.
Unfortunately, the other side which suffered the heat problem also ended up shattering the little glass rectangle and I would need a replacement there too. So there's two parts needed when you add in the distorted plastic filter housing.
Any good advice? Is this head too far gone and should I just look for another one? Anyone have a broken head for parts or a parts source? I'd hate to get rid of it as it is obviously a mighty fancy beast.
Cheers
