Hi,
Any chemists out there?
ILFOFIX 2 contains Sodium Metabisuphite, Sodium Acetate & Sodium Thiosulphate. That whats on the warning labels.
How will this fixer go with Pyro developer? And also fixing salt prints? Will it affect the stain or fade the salt/silver image?
This is all I have till the stores get back to normal.
I normally mix my own fixer, Sodium thiosulphate and sodium metaborate, leaving out the sodium sulfite and disposing of after use.
Any help please???
Pat

It should be fine with Pyro devs, most commercial fixers aren't that acidic usually between pH 5.2 to 5.4, and some alkali fixer are pH 6-7 hardly alkali at all in fact very slightly acidic.

Don't use it for salt prints the ammonium thiosulphate is too aggressive with alternative processes which need plain "Hypo" Sodium Thiosulphate.

ILFOFIX 2 is a sodium thiosulphate fixer Ian.
I though that Ilford had discontinued it.
