Hi Just got a Durst CLS 70 Color Head for my M800. I saw that it requires 110V power so Im assuming an adapter to my 120V US power is OK.
However, I just realized it requires a special 19v 80-watt halogen bulb. Everyone I asked have never heard of a 19-volt halogen bulb. I know theyre for sale for $12 a bulb but are there any workaround to this? alternatives? LED alternatives? Something makeshift?
Thanks,

Regretful Buyer

My inclination would be to fit a standard 12V 100W enlarger bulb, and replace the transformer with a generic 12v power supply rated at at least 10A continuous output.

Yeah I did some checking around after this post. Seems like a pretty simple rewire and Amazon has a plethora of options. What are your thoughts of LED bulbs?

Nothing special about the EKG lamp, is pretty common MR16 quartz/halogen/tungsten design. I use them in my Minolta enlarger.

An LED bulb seems like a good idea but most have a very sketchy colour spectrum compared to tungsten bulbs, which would probably affect results. Could be worth trying tho, you would need to find a bulb with a CRI (color rendering Index) of 95 or higher.

Removing the whole socket and cables and replacing it with 12 volt set up. But just found a source where they’re selling original bulbs for $5 each. Will see when it arrives

Hi Im looking at transformer that came with the CLS 70. Is the TRA 100 the correct one? Just wondering why it has 10-11 volt output for a 19 volt bulb
