Help needed - Super Ikonta 531/16

A few weeks ago I got a 531/16 in perfect condition - it works flawlessly.
On my last photo-walk I lost the little screw for bolting the winding knob ...
Fortunately I found the winding knob and two washers in my back - the screw is still missing.

I tried the screw from a faulty Mockba 5 but it doesn't fit.
Does anybody knows the dimensions of the screw I'm looking for ?
Any ideas ??
The local repair man couldn't help.

My first thought in a case of doubt would be tapping a new thread for a screw at hand...
But seen the original thread that would not be a good idea:

You really need someone to take out that screw and measure it.
But it should be one of the DIN threads; there are not that many different ones.

Maybe another check of the car boot?


A good repair man for fine-mechanical things would have an assortment of screws at hand. Good for
testing a thread. But he also would have different taps too. Another way of testing.

Thank you for the link to ipernity.com.
I already talked to Hans K. - he recommended to buy a cheap Nettar (517/16);
he doesn't know the measurements of the original screw.
I will try to call a few repair shops in my area - maybe there is a screw to fit my Ikonta.

I guess someone here has that camera and a caliper and a thread gauge.

Looks similar to the 532/16, any idea if they're the same?

532/16 looks similar to the 531/16.
Another user told me that the Ikonta IV 534/16 uses the same screw ...
But even a faulty Ikonta (or Nettar) seems to be very pricey just to get a single screw.
I hope for another solution.

My recently acquired 530/16 too had a loose screw upon initial inspection. Seems to be a prevalent problem with this series. I tended to mine immediately and always check that the problem doesn't reoccur.
A screw like this seems to be of an ancient gauge of a particular scale. I'm sure one can be replaced from an engineering stockist...whether it is German, English or American.

Exactly the same problem here - maybe a thin layer of a screw adhesive could help ?

I bought a few boxes of Super Ikontas and parts from Jurgen at Certo6. I'll dig through there and see if I can come up with any spare screws. Postage of a screw to Germany should not be very expensive.

I circuited through several repair shops here in my area - I didn't find a screw for my Ikonta yet.

I took a look through, could not find any screws that didn't have a home on a nearly functional body. As I progress through fixing up/combining the camera bodies/lenses/parts that I have, I may have something become available. Will post again if I find something for you.

Nope ! I just found a screw that would fit ... There is a screw on the flash shoe on the 531/16 (there are three - it's the single one) the that fits perfect, but ... it's too short.
I'm dilletante and cannot measure the screw exactly - I guess it has to be a 1.6 x 6mm.
I'm going to visit the model making shop in my hometown - the 1.6 x 6mm screw is a genuine part for the Roco or Fleischmann Elektrolok H0 1:87 scale ...
Will post again and tell you the outcome.

Just to mention : Yesterday I ask Mr. Henry Scherer from http://www.zeisscamera.com/about.shtml for a screw -
here's his very kind response :

"I am very sorry to tell you I do not have any of the screws for the winding knob. I also have no idea where one can be obtained except from a parts camera. I purchased all of the spare parts from a Zeiss Ikon repair technician some years ago and found not one of those screws among all of the parts. My advice is do whatever you must do to find that missing screw. I don't think there is one available in all the world. I'm very sorry to have bad news for you ..."

How do you know?
By googleling?
Or have you got one too, but it is also too short?

Fred, That's wonderful! 'Day before yest, I got excited over a composition & was mainly shooting 35mm. I brought the Ikonta with me just in case something deserved the extra size & I hope it turns out. Some of the compo elements are of modern design. With the Ikonta, it will likely tone down the more harsh presentation & still deliver all the detail.
I think you're gonna take some fabulous images w/ that old tool. 'Very glad to hear the annoying loss of hardware is resolved.
