Hello all,

I’m a print artist that works with cyanotype. I share a small darkroom with my partner, who is a film photographer.

I have a small emergency, and I’m not sure if anyone has come across this issue before, but some of my cyanotype chemicals came in contact with my partner’s film. We have not tried cleaning the film off yet, but I was wondering if anyone had tried cleaning cyanotype off of film and if there are best practices that work well. I personally do not know much about film.

Any ideas would be so appreciated.

Thank you,
Amelia

I assume we are talking about film material that has already been exposed and developed. I have no experience with cyanotype but understand that the chemicals used are soluble in water and turn unsoluble after exposure to (UV) light. In that case I would suggest to wash/rinse the affected film as quickly as possible. Good luck.
