Help identify the size of these? Camera/Holders/Plates

Won these on EvilBiddingSite.com-
Any opinions as to size and format of the plates/holders?
I stupidly didn't even ask seller if the plate holders fit the camera.....

Any help would be appreciated- I really need to not be so impetuous.:w00t:

A folding plate camera with a 10,5cm lens has usually a 6,5X9 format.

It's difficult to identify this camera : single extension, and I don't see any front shifts, which is uncommon...

Looks like a Zeiss Ikon Taxo. 6.5 x 9 cm format. Nice thing is that you got some plates with it that you can clear and re-coat. ^_^

I scored these film sheaths. Anyone have a guess if they might fit?
If the glass plates are NG then I'll be working paper negs!!
I use paper negs at the day camp I teach at.

Well, I'd guess these are, one 9x12cm film-pack holder for the slip-in type Zeiss Ikon cameras ... and maybe two 9x12cm plate holders for the same? No way to tell without more detailed photos or a better description.

Hey, guys, anyone have an idea if these backs may fit this camera? It seems to be a 'slide in" type and these Kodaks seem to be slide ins....?

The sellers description;

KODAK Metal PLATE HOLDERS 2 1/4X 3 1/4 or 6 1/2X9cm.For sheet film and I presume glass plates.These are nicely made,thin to fit into the camera,and hinge open for loading.I believe that they fit Kodak Plade Cameras and German Plate Cameras.I am selling these as a lot of 3.

BugBug; sorry I wasn't clear- In regards to the sheaths/film inserts Im getting from epay; I asked the seller about their size:

"The film pack adapter is 3 1/2 x 4 3/4 inches the other holders are 3 1/4 x 4 1/4 inches"

Would these match those plates?

9x12cm is the same as 3 1/2 x 4 3/4 inch. The film pack adapters were made to be used with film packs. A long discontinued way to package and use thin sheet film.

The Zeiss Ikon 3 1/4 x 4 1/4 inch plate holders that I've seen are a kind of "reducing" back. They usually fit the typical 9x12cm plate cameras, but hold the 3 1/4 x 4 1/4 inch plates that were more common in the U.S. at the time.

The glass plates that you got are most likely 6.5x9cm and wouldn't fit in any of these holders.

These were made for the Kodak Recomar 18 camera, but may work with the 6.5x9 Zeiss Taxo that you bought. They are the "slide-in" type. Another nice thing about them, they are designed to use with sheet film, so they don't need the "septums" or "inserts" to hold sheet film flat on the focal plane.

9x12 isn't the same as Quarter plate which is shorter on the longest side. However you're right that Quarter plate holders were made for 9x12 camera which often had a Quarter plate focus screen as well in some markets. So a camera might have beeen sold in the US/UK as Quarter plate and 9x12 in Europe.

The issue arises when a camera is made specfically as a Quarter plate camera and so cannot take 9x12 film holders, I had to make a new focus screen for one of these last month.

It does appear from the OP's photo that the plates and holders fit the camera in the image which is as stated before a 6.5x9 camera.
