Hello everyone from Belgium.

I am a brand new member, registered today on the advice of another group, learn repair camera.
I am an old camera restorer. Thank you for your welcome.
Before posting my question, I did a search on the group and only found a very old answer, 2015, which does not give me an answer.

My problem is the following: I have to change the curtains and adjust the shutter on an Ensign special reflex camera.
I can't find how to disassemble the rear block to access the curtains.
There are no visible screws.
Does anyone of you have the solution to disassemble this part??

Thank you in advance for your assistance !
Philippe

Does your camera's back rotate? On RB Graflex, Former, Kodak and similar focal plane SLR cameras you depress the back rotate button and spin it 45º this reveals the screws that are holding the. back onto the wooden camera box. If not maybe the screws are under the leather.

Hello and thank you for your answers. I humbly admit it, I was too careful (you can never be too careful). I didn't dare force to do the recommended rotation... Yippee!! it turns and it's not spiritualism!! Indeed screws are now visible !!! THANK YOU !!

Should have said welcome to Photrio. I acquired a second Ensign Special Reflex last week, appeared to be missing some parts, but they were inside, carefully wrapped in bubble wrap.

This link will be helpful along with the link I gave above (you need to scroll down the page). It appears that this camera has not been restored yet but the diagrams etc will make it easier to understand how the shutter works.

You are most welcome. I am glad Ian Grant saw your thread. You are in better hands than me, Ian is expert technician in these cameras and Roller Blind Thornton Shutters.
