Hi Everybody,

I'm new to the forum and have been "into" photography for about a year now. It's a dream to find a site dedicated to film users!

I started off with a compact digital camera and then decided to learn about "proper photography" sold it and bought a canon t90 and some lenses from ebay. Since then i've been hooked!

I've been learning more each and everytime I get a roll back and I love the learning curve involved. I'm also a sucker for cheap camera's and keep buying slr's and rangefinders! Eek...I'm running out of space at home though!

(Incidentally my biggest bargain to date is a fujica stx-1, with some lovely lenses and filters for the princely sum of £1.50)

I've recently invested in some darkroom gear and started developing my own film too and this has made me even hungrier to learn and improve my photography.

Cripes...i'm waffling on...I just wanted to say hello and how much I've enjoyed the forum so far.

All the best

Adam

Dear Adam,

STOP BUYING CAMERAS (even cheap STX-1s) and take more pictures!

It's all too easy to play with cameras rather than taking pictures. I should know: I don't know how many cameras I have, 40 years after starting.

Welcome to the forum!

Cheers

Roger (www.rogerandfrances.com -- and do you read Amateur Photographer?)

Hello from the Isle of Wight.

As David said: Buy all the cameras you want. Roger usually has lots of very good advice but I think you need to ignore him this time!!! (apart from the 'take more pictures' bit).

Welcome to APUG, Adam!

You're the first person I've seen say "cripes" besides me, so you must be quite an ok sort of fellow!

This is a grand place, hope you enjoy your 'new home'. :D

Thanks for your welcome.

I take your point about spending time taking photo's rather than acquiring gear for the sake of it!

I do spend pretty much all of my spare time taking photos
and logistically I don't think that I a) have the space to fit anymore cameras and b) won't have a long-suffering girlfriend if I spend any more money on camera equipment!!!

All the best

Careful now. Some of those are a bit strong for polite forum usage!

Hi Adam,

Welcome from Hawaii. Don't worry about the odd word or two, from American ears they sound interesting.

Welcome from the middle of Canada. I guess "cripes" knows no boundaries. I use it too. Enjoy your camera buying.
