I'm a retired military and federal service photographer
Military: 1955 - 1981 - Support, Aerial, Combat, Teaching
Federal: 1981 - 2005 - Intelligence, Medical.
Goofing off: 2005 - Present

Military: It was a great run! One of the fortunate few who started out mixing Developers and Hypos (Fixers) from scratch. At the start of color chemistry for military use. Used cameras as small as Minox, as large as 30 X 40. Routine photo for accidents, awards, promotions, industrial, etc. Other military photogs will know what etc. covers. Aerial in Vietnam covering bomb damage assessment, air to air, and air to ground in support of troops on the ground, as well as on the ground; aerial mapping in Central And South America. Taught military attache and their support personnel photography for 7 years.

Federal: Spent one year with The National Gallery of Art , moved to Navy Intelligence for seven years, then on to medical photography in an Air Force medical center hospital.

Now, at 85, I'm ready to give up most of the photo gear I've accumulated over the years. I see where here I need 20 posts before I can advertise the equipment for sale. The fact is, I'll probably never reach that high standard. So, I'm asking members for Webb address to other sites where I might post those items I wish to part with.

I see some very interesting photos here, great to see the young dogs are carrying the craft forward. Thanks for allowing me to join your group.

Welcome.
To advertise for sale, you would also need to be a paid subscriber.
But before worrying about that, why not consider pulling up a keyboard and staying (posting) a while. This is a community, as well as a resource. You might even find people here with shared experiences.

Dock,

That's a very interesting resume. I hope you stick around. I have been a member for years, but just noticed today the posting limit issue. If you find a place to list your stuff, please check back and share it with us. I am personally in the market for a 5x7 field or monorail camera.

Thanks for your service, Dock!

I have, in the interim, since joining, looked at many different photo sites since joining this group. As I'm sure many of you know, this group is by far and away is best with basic, intermediate and advance knowledge and experience. Wish you luck finding a 5 X 7 rail camera.

Welcome, Dock!

I’m trying to get my posts up so I can direct message people (even though I’ve been a “lurker” for many years!). I bet you’ve seen some 9” aerial film i your travels. My first job out of college, I worked with a company that made one of the first digital scanners for 9” aerial film…. Long time ago, when terrain maps generated from the film was used for guidance!

Thanks for the welcome. You're right, I did see a fair amount of 9" aerial film especially when I was assigned to first a reconnaissance squadron an later to an aerial mapping squadron in my earlier years. Handled both 9 X 9" and 9 X 18" Might be only a handful of photography I did not get involved in with my 50 years experience. Two I can think of off the top of my head were fashion and underwater. An experience I would gladly do over again, especially the military life.

Thanks, Too dumb to have wisdom but, used to have a lot of experience!

The only dumb questions are the ones that are not asked. None of us was born with this knowledge, someone had to teach us.

Profound but, if you ever taught anything to anyone of any age, you will know there are dumb questions. Example, the question that has been ask, answered, then asked again by a different person. Example, I hear it frequently when reporters, many, are are all trying to interview some noted person. One will ask a question, received an answer; then, someone will ask the same question again. Didn't mean to pontificate.

Thank you for this information. Not smart enough and don't have the memory required to use ebay.com. I'm not even addressing the taxes.
