Hi there,

It's the first time I post here though I've been a rare lurker for about half an year.

My name is Lukasz Grabun, I am 29, living in Poland, Europe. For those who live in States: Europe is the small peninsula attached to Russia and Poland is a medium-sized country at the very eastern end of it ;-)

Two or so years ago, I joined the crowd, and bought myself a digital SLR, which was Olympus E-1 in this case. But somehow - I can't recall exactly how it went - my interest was pulled towards film cameras, OMs in particular. Now I have two of them, OM-2n and OM-1n; I had OM-G and OM-4 but sold them. Meanwhile I tried such cameras as Yashica 124 Mat and Mamiya C330. My two recent purchases are Bessa R and Hasselblad 501CM. My favourite film is HP5+, my favourite developer is R09 and my favourite focal length is 50mm ;-)

So, this is it. Hello everyone.

And last but not least: I'd like to thank very much to the founders of APUG; the only way I could express my appreciation was by purchasing an account on this awesome site - which I obviously did; in times when internet is flooded with cr*p this place remains one of last places where quality is valued more that quantity. Thanks for this.

Phew, it's been long. Has anyone read so far?

Oh, and my flickr gallery, if anyone is interested, is here:

Welcome Lukasz!

I think you forgot to mention that Poland is the only migratory country in the world (look at historical maps, and you'll see what I mean) ...

Guys, too bad I won't be able to attend to one of APUG meetings to meet you in person for you all sound like people who are definitely worth meeting in person. Thanks again for a warm welcome!

Welcome aboard Lukasz! I won't try my Polish - I worked with a couple of Polish engineers for 15 years and London is full of Poles these days but my ear for languages is worse than my ear for playing music (and that is saying something!)

Have fun, Bob.

Welcome Lukasz, my grandparents were Polish, left there as young people seeking their fortunes in the early 1900's and ended up in Saskatchewan, Canada of all places:wink:. I would very much like to visit your country sometime:smile:

Welcome Lukasz to Apug from Oklahoma, USA. My Grandmother was Polish and I am told she immigrated here with her family when she was 15, unfortunately she died before I was born and I don't know much about her but have always had a facination with Poland and wanted to visit. Welcome.

Hello! Just don't make it more difficult for the Americans than it is - the truth is that there are about 10 countries in Europe that are farther to the East than Poland - some of them even much more (Ukraine to name just one of them)! If you disorient them they could come to Moscow instead of to Warsaw - you wouldn't like that...

Hello. Welcome from Old England and an even shorter distance( about 70 miles) to Cambridge U.K. In an easterly direction I live on the highest point on the earth's surface until the Ural mountains in Russia. We would be able to wave to each other if the earth didn't curve!

Lukasz, welcome to APUG from the USA . . . it's sort of in the middle of the peninsula attached to the north end of Panama. EuGene

Welcome from Toronto. Like your pictures. I share the same typical Eastern European obcession of shooting abandoned cemeteries.

Golly, I didn't know abandoned cemeteries was an Eastern European thing. I too shoot them, and also keep about 20 of them cleared of leaves and debris, mow them, and maintain plastic flowers on each grave. They range from 1 grave to 54 graves, and mady are remote and/or out in the local National Forest.
