Just dug up my dad's Canon A-1, and halfway through a roll of TMax 400. Really excited to learn as much as I can about analog photography! I actually got my start with this camera back in middle school, so about 15 years ago. Put it away for a while when digital came along, and probably forgot most of what little I knew.
My main camera now is a Fuji X-E2, which has reminded me how much I love the analog feel. I have quite a few Olympus OM lenses that I use with it, so I figured might as well go the next step.
Just picked up an OM-2n, and can't wait to get a roll in it. The self-timer dial had fallen off, but I was able to repair it, so it's almost ready
I think both my cameras could probably use a good CLA, though. The Canon tries to overexpose by about 2 stops, so I've had to adjust for that. I pretty much have to carry around the digital anywhere so I can calibrate the metering before shooting with the A-1. The OM is generally accurate, but it seems to want to overexpose by about 2/3 stop sometimes. Am I doing something wrong? Maybe the digital camera metering system just reads a bit differently?
I also have much to learn about processing. Didn't worry about it much since my dad would take care of that for me before, but I suspect I need to grow out of that phase.
Anyway, it's good to be here. Glad I found a community of photographers I can bug about my questions. I'm sure you'll all be tired of me pretty soon with the silly questions I ask! Promise I'll try searching the forums first to find my answers
