Welcome to APUG. I have a very pleasant memory of Vienna, and wish to pass on information to you about a place in Vienna.
In the late 1980's I was taken to a small place near the Schönbrun palace by a business colleague, because he wanted me to experience a very traditional Austrian meal. We had a meal which consisted of homemade (by the proprietor himself) wurst of various types (blutwurst, deer sausage, and others), which impressed me so much that I returned there to take my very last evening meal in Vienna after a two week driving holiday around all of Austria. When my wife and I picked up a BMW on factory delivery in 2001, I was amazed I could still find the place to drive there after 15 years, but unfortunately as it was a Sunday evening and closed for business, we could not take a meal there. Since we were leaving Vienna on Monday morning there was no opportunity for a return. The place is named Hadikstüberl, Hadikgasse 100, 1140 Wien, Austria. I hope you get the opportunity to go there, and find the place as nice as I did over 25 years ago...I would love to hear it is as wonderful as it was when I went there the first time! I just checked on the web, and it is now operated by the son of the man who I met, Helmut Ehold .
