Just picked up a humble and well-used Nikon FM10 and a 50/1.8 E-series lens to try my hand at film photography.

Looking forward to learning lots from you all.

I'm an older guy and so technically, I'm "getting reacquainted" with film, having shot it briefly in high school (photography club). But it was never more than snapshots and more about playing with the club's Pentax Spotmatics and darkroom equipment because I was a nerdy guy.

I have ambitions with bulk-loading film and developing it myself and scanning it myself using a lesser-used digital body and a macro lens. --because, for better or worse, the nerdiness has remained with me over the years!

Welcome from across the way over on the Island.

I'm sure several of us will do our best to lure you into the realm of medium or large format.

Trust us, you'll love it here.

A quick reply to better introduce myself.

I was never a keen photographer over the years, though I took lots of pictures, both film and digital, (point and shoot, family, vacation, etc.)

More recently (last 4 years), picked up some decent digital gear and have shot lots. I'm trying to get better.

Part of the reason for trying film again is to force myself to slow down. Large capacity SD cards allow too much spray and pray. I hope that film instills more discipline in my shooting style.

PS: my username is derived from "Pho Bo Kho", a tasty Vietnamese noodle dish.

Edit: typo and name explanation.

Boy, you guys are quick to say hello back! I loved the Island and will return again soon. It's so "photogenic" and people are so friendly. Lots to see; amazing diversity in landscape, people and lifestyles.

Thanks for the warm welcome.

Welcome. One of the reasons why I stay in Vancouver is the lovely surroundings. I came here for a week or two over 20 yrs ago and have not left. Anywhere, any season there are things to photograph here. This site has taught me many things but watch out for GAS as there is a lot of equipment mentioned and the classifieds. I have always had very good luck with the equipment I have purchased here. Very honest and helpful salesmen is one of the reasons why I quit purchasing on the infamous eBlay site.
