I have been looking and lurking for a good film/analog photography forum these days. This place seems to have some great content and members, hoping to learn and exchange thoughts.

I come from the old film days, got into the digital thing (still shoot digital) and started making a return to film a few months ago. I shoot 120, 35 and 110. I'm starting APS and hope to add a little 126 as well. I just love tinkering around with cameras.

Anyway, just wanted to say "Hey"!

Mountains are God's method to stack more good people in the same acreage, and with more surrounding beauty, than man has devised using eyesore high rise buildings.

Yes, Colorado has lots of rock, and NC mountains don't have near the elevation as being up at the top of places like Estes (love it there), but here in NC we have lush GREEN as far as the eye can see at 5000+ feet off the Blue Ridge and many other places

Welcome Wes! If you are in or get to Asheville they have a thriving community darkroom downtown - (http://www.theashevilledarkroom.org/ I live in the Raleigh area but frequently shoot in Pisgah and Nantahala forests as well as the Smoky Mountains.

Regards,
Mike

I was just having fun, I hope you know. Yes, different. I've spent a few days in the Smoky Mountains NP and thereabouts, yes its pretty. But for me, it takes ruggedness and perhaps little vegetation to take my breath away.

I've been to Louisiana a few times. The last time was when I got to travel with a friend in an 18 wheeler. We crossed some famous see-through bridge that looks like it is made from a chain-link fence!

When I was in college I asked a professor who had been all over the US where the most beautiful place to live is. His response, without hesitation, was Colorado. Then he thought a second or two and said "But North Carolina would be right up there, too"!

I"m in Asheville very often these days. As a matter of fact I used to work for Iris Photo + Digital as their E-6 Specialist for about 13 years, also working in their B&W services. The owners sold the company and the last owners closed the business years ago. I have my film processing done at Ball Photo as I've known one of the employees for many years.

Your neighbor in Mississippi (OK, a couple of states away) says Welcome, also. Glad you are back to using film.

A few from your part of the world: https://worldofdecay.blogspot.com/2018/08/the-river-arts-district-of-asheville-in.html
My last travel to Miss' was right after the movie "O' Brother Where Art Thou" came out and my wife and I drove over from Northwest Georgia (my home region) to Tishomingo, then up to Corinth where we stayed the night before returning.

Before the River Arts District became a "thing" I worked with a model photographer who had a HUGE studio in one of the buildings. I think it used to be an old feed and seed warehouse.

Hello from your home region of northwest Georgia.

Seeing your post reminds me I need to venture up that way some more combined motorcyle+photography trips.

Let me know if you do and I'll ride with you!

I've made it up to Nantahala Lake, Murphy and the area but keep getting distracted by the scenery and that limits range
