Just signed on today for the first time. Nice to find a community of those who appreciate traditional photographic thought and processes. I have been pursuing my passion for photography for more than thirty years; one of these days, maybe, I'll catch it.

After many years working in journalism (both in the trenchs and the front office), I have left the daily grind of grip and grin photography to finally focus on fine art projects that have neglected over the years.

I have always believed that no matter how much I learn, still more lessons await me around each corner -- and that as long as I am willing to learn, I can continue to grow both as an artist and as a human being. I look forward to learning from all of you, and if what little knowledge I have accumulated is of any use to you, it will be my pleasure to pass it on.

Welcome aboard. APUG is a good place to be with a wonderful community behind it.

Enjoy!

Welcome Edwin!

What part of Texas are you in? We have a bunch of Texas photogs here, personally I'm located in Denton, TX, outside of D/FW.

I know how you feel as I started out in photography shooting for newspapers, but after 6-7 years I gave it up and now photograph for myself.

Thanks, Jeremy,

I'm just recently settled in Gatesville, just a bit west of Waco.

And another just outside of FTW -in Burleson..Gatesville is just a short drive down 35 (or up depending on where you are at :D )

Welcome and look forward to seeing your post and work.

Is this the complete inventory of Texans then?

Welcome Edwin!

Not even close.
I'm also from Denton, about 20-mins from Dallas (45, during traffic). About all Denton needs to make it a perfect place to live is a good Indian restaurant.

Of course, I'm tempted to say any population can be split into those in Texas and those who wish they were, but I won't. (;

Dallas, here. And yes, I actually live in Dallas itself, not one of the suburbs.

When I retire - it's back to San Antonio, but another day ...

Welcome!!
I'm from...erm...Wisconsin! haha Ok...not everyone can be from Texas! All the cows here would get lonely! :D
Welcome to APUG, Edwin!

Welcome Edwin!
Not yet...

Displaced for a while, but born in Longview, then resided in Baytown, Ft. Worth, and Dallas, and still a Texan at heart, wherever I am. My family's all still there, so I get back.

Hi from Waco! Just went through there Sunday as my parents live in Copperas Cove. How did you pick Gatesville?

Hello, Jeff,

I relocated my family from northeast Kansas to Gatesville so my wife could be closer to her father and mother who are getting older and are not in the best of health -- plus it gave me an excuse to get out of a job I didn't like (jounalism isn't any fun when you reach the front office -- too political). So now I have a (unfortunately not photo-related) job in Waco that allows me the time I need to pursue my fine-art photography and work on my book projects (all things that have for too long been on the sidelines because of the demands of running a newspaper).

Thanks for the welcome,

Edwin

Welcome Edwin from Hawaii!! Sorry, not close to Texas, but I was born in Texas, my entire family, minus me, lives there. So, I guess I have some tie to the state. BTW, did you know there is a small town named "Texas" in Queensland, Australia. Yes, it is just north of New England. Funny about geography.

Thanks for the welcome, Robert.

Texas seems to be a great place so far. I left Hawaii about twelve years ago (went to Kansas), and I miss it alot.
