I'm relatively new to APUG and photography. I've been enjoying snapshots my whole life but didn't know the first thing about manual operation until I took the plunge a few months ago. I bought a Canon 50D and read everything I could get my hands on about exposure, composition, etc. I practiced and read until I had a good grasp on the technical and was beginning to develop the creative. But I have always been drawn to B&W film. My foray into B&W film was the Polaroid 600SE. I used the 50D for metering and shot a quantity of FP-3000B. I loved the meticulous process of shooting with that beast and the immediate gratification of a B&W instant print. Long story short... my technical interest extended to study of the Zone System and a desire for even greater control of my photography.
I recently sold the 600SE (sorry to see it go) and replaced it with an RB67 Pro SD. I've also dusted off my dad's Pentax K1000 and I've enrolled in a B&W darkroom class at the local Southwest School of Art in San Antonio. I'm only 2 weeks in but I think I'm hooked. I had originally planned to do my own negative development and then scan the negs. I purchased an Epson V700 for that very purpose. Now I'm thinking a small home darkroom to complement my new scanner.
As my handle might indicate, I'm a Sooner at heart and will be moving back to Oklahoma later this year.
hi-diddly-ho good neighbor, from north central Pennsylvania. Used to live outside Austin, Tx., and if our house sells, looks like we will be going back(as soon as my wife gets her MBA this spring).
