Started developing my own film at 10 years old. First SLR (Canonflex RM) at 12, followed by a Canon F-1 at 16. I shoot a lot of digital now as well, but still have my F-1 (built like a tank) as well as a Canon AE-1, EOS-3, & AE-2e, and a Nikon FM. In larger format cameras, I have a Mamyia C330 and a Crown Graphic sheet film camera. Recently started working with a non-profit group in my area to build out a darkroom and teach film photography in the local area...really excited about that! Great to join. There are clearly a lot of really enthusiastic members here asking great questions and providing great answers. Hope to contribute meaningfully to the mix! Cheers! billedgarphoto.com

Welcome from north of you!

Welcome!
So exciting to hear of new darkrooms opening up. I wish you the best of luck on that project!

Washington is pretty high on my list if I ever end up visiting the States. It must be beautiful.

I live 13 blocks away from Washington State .
Normally now I don't get any closer than the Canadian border, 160km north of Snohomish, although I have driven through there in the past.
I'm guessing Bill (the OP) will have some familiarity with Glazers in Seattle .

In that case, I'll be sure to head north and drop by!

In my current location of Tsawwassen, just north of the anomaly that is Point Roberts, Washington, you will first need to ride in a boat .

Welcome! I’m just South of you in Bothell. Please share more info on the darkroom.

Greetings from Seattle. The website looks pretty good. I saw a certain barn in the images. I've never driven past that thing during the "proper" light/atmospheric/seasonal conditions yet. It's a bit of a haul to go out there just for that barn. One day I'll catch it.

Welcome! I’m just South of you in Bothell. Please share more info on the darkroom.

The group I'm with is Farmer Frog (https://farmerfrog.org/). I had a revolving darkroom cylinder door, an Omega C-67 enlarger with a Super Chromega Dichroic lamphouse and everything else to build out a darkroom equipment-wise (stainless and Patterson tanks with 35mm and 120 reels, 4x5 sheet film tanks with hangers, trays, a commercial stainless sink, timers, easels, safelights, more) and I'm donating them to the effort. It'll be a little while yet until it's up and running, but it should be solid once complete. I'm also working with the local 4H and another non-profit to teach classes for all of them. Farmer Frog's primary mission area is addressing food insecurity and they are amazing with the logistics in support of that. But they also do arts and other kinds of public education. Photography will be in that category...all kinds; the darkroom will be just one part of what we'll eventually have classes in.

Welcome to Photrio. Olympic National Park is one of my favorite places to do photography.
