Hello, I am a film photography enthusiast from Linyi City, Shandong Province, China. I use Nikon SLR cameras (Nikomat EL, F, F3p, and recently I bought an F70). I started taking photos with film cameras at the age of 14 and began developing my own film at 17 (I am now 20). However, over the past year, I’ve been feeling increasingly uninspired when it comes to taking photos. As a result, I started delving into developing solutions, the history of film development, and darkroom techniques. Initially, I read some common photography formulas and darkroom books (most of these formulas were translated from materials from the 1950s to 1970s from the Soviet Union, Japan, and the United States). Through discussions in group chats, I obtained a PDF of Haist’s *Modern Photographic Processing*, which is an excellent book. Later, I learned how to download many foreign books translated into Chinese from e-book websites, such as L.F.A. Mason’s *Photographic Processing Chemistry* and Pierre Grafkides’ *Chimie Photographique*. However, these books are somewhat outdated, and I need some newer resources on film development.

My friends in the WeChat groups recommended this forum to me. I look forward to exchanging ideas with everyone here, hope to learn from others, and would like to help others as much as I can.
My foreign language skills are not very good, so this text has been translated by Deepseek. I hope English speakers can read it smoothly.

Hello CS and welcome.
There is a newer book from Carrol, Higgins and James dated 1980:
There is a 1996 book from Taadaki Tani but it is too expensive for me.
One of the downsides of books is that Kodak and Ilford never published details of their work on ascorbates so information on these is short compared to the information on hydroquinone.
I hope you have access to "The Film Developing Cookbook" 2020 edition by Anchell and Troop.
