Great to be here! Like what I see...
Finally convinced myself I need to dig deeper into photography, the process, composition and style. Keen on slowing down my method to savor and capture more meaningful moments as a personal indulgence ...I love the tech side, but have an appreciation for art in blossom. Just another student.
Regards and salutations!

Hey Matt, greetings. Just a few miles away in Hayward there is a fantastic analog darkroom facility called Photocentral. It's on E st, right next to bret harte field. Every monday night they have open lab from 5-10. It's only $5 an hour and has everything you need to develop, print, and finish, plus much more. Check it out! I'm there almost every week myself.

Cheers,
- Dan

Welcome to APUG Matt, from a fair bit up the coast, in the country to the north of you.

Always happy to see more Matts!

Welcome, ValveTubeHead! This a great forum for analog photography -- and more than a few of us have and use tube gear to listen to our music, often on vinyl. You're among compatriots here….

Hey Dan,
very cool. I'll have to drop in for a visit! I work in Hayward off Clawiter near the bridge. Just starting to shoot film and get my paws wet in diy processing...ordering chemicals and chemistries. I work in a science wet lab with all the right tools to do tight, controlled (reproducible) processing, but printing otoh would require a little higher level of commitment. Great to know there's a half-way-house for rent on this alternate journey. I've shot digital for many years, the technology & image quality is truly amazing, but my style has been very lazy, suffering from bad habits and lack of formal training. Very recently, I bought a couple nice Nikon film SLR bods (FE & F3) to force me to slow down and think, compose & adjust...very analog method compared to "full auto," spray & pray. So far it's been very therapeutic and meaningful to me... I've had to adjust my hobbies lately, due to health reasons, and photography has stepped up boldly! -keeping me from too much frustration. I'm very much looking forward to developing my first roll.

thanks for the warm welcome folks!

Ive got a closet full of thrashed guitar tube amps, and some RCA A/B circuit HeathKit stuff my dad tooled on back in the '50s. Rich tones indeed... Love my small collection of vinyl; a genuine treat for the ears!

With so many of us in the San Francisco bay area, and some of us only 1-2 cities away from each other, we should do a get-together or something. Maybe a 1/2 day informal shoot somewhere cool or a beer or cup o' joe casual camera chat. Anyone up for that?

Sounds good to me! So many great venues (and cameras) to choose from...hmm!?!

:D
