I only found this site earlier this evening and was delighted with its content, all traditional photography and photographers.
For the past 23 years I have been away from photography and only got back into it about 6 months ago. Since then I have been equipping a traditional darkroom and purchasing a range of cameras. My new parner in life, Rosemary, is keen to learn photography and its something that we can do together.
23 years is a long time and there have been many changes since I last held a camera in anger. When I gave up all those years ago the Canon A1 was camera of the year and auto focus was still something under development.
Have browsed this site I feel sure that i shall meet many new friends and I look forward to sharing our passion for traditional photography.
Welcome Mike, we met in the chat room earlier today. Enjoy APUG and I am confident that you will find tremendous value and an abundance of information not to mention all of the wonderful people you will meet.
Welcome Mike,
I hope you and Rosemary enjoy your renewed interest, and get a lot of pleasure from your photography. I think you will be amazed at at how much the materials have improved in twenty three years, to me a much more significant than in the hardware IMHO. I still have and use two Canon A1s, they do all I need, I have no need for A/F for the type of work I do , mainly portraiture, and they do the job admirably.
Welcome. I think you've joined a good site. We're very kind. Where else could you find members saying they are Scotland fans? Hang on, this may be a reference to the country and not the football team. Yes, I mean members with good judgement.
It just so happens that I will be landing in your fine country on Weds. morning for a week of shooting. I hear the weather has been pretty good. See if you can't get it to hang around awhile!
