Hi from a foreigner living in Sapporo, Japan.

I started with photography ~ 25 years ago (SLR, Nikon) and changed to digital when I came to Japan nearly four years ago. But somehow, digital wasn't the thing for me. I missed watching my slides, BW film.

Last year I bought my first Leica ever, a M6 and now having MP, M3 (2x) and some Leica lenses made a nice way back to film and into the world of rangefinder cameras. Very recently I got my first TLR (Rolleiflex 3.5E), and all the digital stuff has gone.

It took me some time to find this forum but I already found many helpful information and tips so I joined.

Hello from Niigata!

Welcome aboard! I lived in Sapporo for a couple of years during my graduate school days before relocating down south. Been here quite a bit longer than 4 years.

Enjoy the site!

Welcome aboard

Well I was a 'foreigner' living in Australia for 3.5 years , but there I did not visually stand out (at least once I tanned up enough), so I didn't label myself as a foreigner. I guess it may be a lacal label you apply to yourself.

I do believe that back some years ago that I heard a rumour that Leicas all got bought up by collectors in Japan, which was part of the reason for the high price. Glad to know that someone living there actually uses the things. Happy shooting, and may the soup be with you.

Hello and welcome from Nagoya, Japan.

I would tend to agree that most of the Leicas are here (though none with me.)

Wow ... so many replies. Thanks to everybody for the kind welcome ! Yep... about the Leicas, they tend to collect them here in Japan. I tend to use my cameras, that's what they are made for... I still have a huge backlog of films, waiting to be scanned ... Japan is nice for photography !! (... and beer ...!)

Cheers,

Gabor
