Hello everyone, been lurking for a while and finally happy to join this forum of dedicated and passionate photographers. I‘ve been shooting for about 15 years, since college. I went to a public university in Ohio where I stumbled into film photography (35mm), eventually switching majors to study commercial photography. I chose a traditional route of photo assisting and apprenticing other photographers, moving to Chicago (the closest large market to me) in order to truly learn the profession. I am big on community and mentorship, and I believe it is important to connect and learn from those who have built up knowledge and experience (it can be an isolating and confusing career path without community). I have now been putting food on the table for roughly two years solely through shooting.

I have joined Photrio in particular because I feel that it closest reflects the authentic form of photography that I am seeking to rediscover. I have not shot a personal project in a long time, and often find myself with only a phone camera most of the times I am not working. I am in the process of finding new passion, experimenting with new project ideas, and moving over some personal hurdles with my photography. This forum has already helped inspire me in my journey. I love the art of photography, and the vast ways people can express themselves and portray their view of the world with the craft. It is a special thing. Thank you for allowing me in, offering a glimpse at others perspectives, and allowing me to share mine.

Oh and as far as the nitty gritty goes — I am a tabletop still life / product photographer but commercially been shooting more people lately. I am a studio guy. I use two digital systems right now, Fuji GFX 100 and Sony A1. I came up learning on a 4x5 view camera and am in the process of building out a smaller format 6x9 system where I can shoot film and digital. I miss having movements!
