Hello everyone from Raleigh, North Carolina! My name is Ryan, I'm a long time reader of the great advice and info on APUG and finally decided it was time to join in.

I'm new to photography as a serious hobby, but I've always enjoyed playing with cameras. Now five years in, I shoot a little with everything from a Minox B to an Intrepid 4x5!

Happy to be part of the fun

Hey Ryan, you're from one of my favourite parts of the US -- I had the pleasure of visiting Durham a while back and just fell in love with that region of NC.

Welcome to APUG

Hi and welcome from a bit west of you in Mississippi. Minox B? Those were great, and I love watching old spy movies where the guy photographs documents with a Minox. Where do you get film?

Thanks everyone.

Kodachromeguy, Blue Moon camera and machine in Portland now stocks Minox film, thanks to an agreement with Minox Germany. I have had great service from their processing too, good people.

Welcome to APUG

Hey Ryan - I am a couple hours NW of you, near Martinsville VA. Over the past couple years I have been doing some genealogy work and found that many of my ancestors on my moms side (her maiden name is "Lane") were from your area - My 5th great uncle was Joel Lane, the "Father" of Raleigh. I doubt he was very much into photography though...

Hi Ryan, Maybe we ought to start an Analog Photography Meetup group in the Triangle. I searched for one recently and didn't find anything remotely close. I think the only analog facility is likely at the Arts Center in Carborro and not sure if that facility is still in operation, but with all of the universities in the area maybe one or two programs still exist?

Regards,
Mike

Hello and welcome to the APUG jungle!

Ryan (and anyone else near the Triangle), I formed a regional meetup group, Triangle Analog Photography if you are interested in joining. Also, next Frriday, May 5th there is an Ansel Adams technique workshop, Ansel Adams: Visualization and the Perfect Print, being offered at the North Carolina Museum of Art as an extension of the current Ansel Adams exhibit: http://ncartmuseum.org/calendar/eve...dams_visualization_and_the_perfect_print/1100 If you want to attend, you have to purchase tickets no later than Tuesday.

Regards,
Mike
