Hello!

I only got seriously into photography at the beginning of this year, but you might say it has become an obsession!

While I did get started with a DSLR, I found it to be an excellent training tool for what was to come. It allowed me to understand how exposures worked, lighting, composition. It all came together in a way where I could have instant feedback and then try again with lessons learned from my earlier mistakes.

These days my main camera is a Mamiya C330, and I also shoot a Minolta X-700. Shortly, I will be developing my own B&W film at home but for now I use a local lab.

Once my home dark room is up and running and I've got the hang of it, I'd also like to try my hand with a 4x5 view camera.

Someone on ModelMayhem.com forums pointed to this site as potentially being a much friendlier place for film photographers to hang out. Film discussions over on MM invariably turn into a digital vs. film debate in short order.

Interesting, a digital camera training for a C330. Kinda backwards from the norm.

Welcome.

Welcome from western Canada. I think I was in Raleigh once. Isn't Duke University located there? Beautiful city.

Isn't Duke University located there? Beautiful city.

Close; Duke is in the nearby city of Durham, which is one county over from us but considered part of the same metropolitan region. We've got quite a lot in the way of universities around here.

I've done some d***tal shooting at the gardens they have at Duke, which are quite lovely in the springtime. The city of Durham has a lot of cool old brick industrial architecture left behind from when it was a booming tobacco town, and interesting social dichotomies where relatively wealthy people live next door to relatively impoverished people. Makes for some interesting street shooting opportunities.

(Go Wolfpack!)

Often. And I will be there shortly after Christmas to get some of the things that Santa might miss.

Hmmm Lexington, eh? Been awhile since I've been to the BBQ capital of the state.
