Hey everyone! My name is Tim. Not Tim from Monty Python. I'm a bit nicer than that. I wanted to introduce myself to the apug community and share a bit of my journey at the moment. I'm in the process of looking for donations for gear such as a higher end digital camera, laptop, and preferably a profoto 7b flash system. I'm a member of an organization called "children of war, Children of hope". We've just gotten permission from the sudanese government and the U.S. government to begin adoption services in war torn and famine struck regions in Sudan. That's the reasoning for the gear. I am helping build the website an need professional gear to enter this region and take photos of the children up for adoption. Many of the children in the orphanage have aids, children whom have lost their parents. Its a very tragic scene at the moment. anyway if you have some old gear or gear that you would be interested in donating to help me accomplish my tasks it would be most welcome. i also have a portfolio of some of my work at www.thegoldengaze.com
cheers,
tim

Welcome to the forum, Tim, and good luck with your project.

You might consider contacting the PR departments of the major camera manufacturers (Canon, Nikon, etc.) about the project. One of them might be interested in acting as a project sponsor (with obvious credit) by donating gear on an exclusive basis.

thanks

yeah that is one avenue i tried with canon and they had no interest but i will keep trying. This could be good pr for some of these companies which helps needy people and shows that they care as a company but i do understand that its hard for them to contribute without really having a connection with the organization at times. Its true that to get things done you have to know certain people. If you know what i mean. I'm definitely open to suggestions though. thanks again
