Been reading photo.net for about 4 years and have finally had enough of digital. Tired of chasing new gear, tired of my hobby starting to look my work (software engineer) and am suffering from enough of a mid-life to want to cut anything extraneous out of my life and go back to basics. So, back to manual cameras (Cambo 4x5, Rolleicord V, Olympus 35RC), light meter, B&W film and no more *bloody* Photoshop. Even gave away my PDA - now hoping for a fountain pen and notebook for Xmas. Or a Leica M4.

Welcome Chiba. I was sick of Photo.net and Photosig too. These places are completely overun by digital fans, many of whom are really more fans of technology and computers than they are of photography. There's a legitimate place for digital cameras now, I think, since it would be virtually impossible to work in a news, sports or similar environments without them, which depend on instant transmission of photos. That doesn't bother me at all. What does bother me is the constant anything-that-came-out-more-than-two-days-ago is no good attitude that prevails nowadays. People need to slow down and consider what is really important, before we all go nuts. I've constantly owned and used personal computers of various flavours since 1979, but the frenzy about everything we do having to be digitalized is a bit crazy right now. To me, digital imaging is to photography what CNN is to news.
