Hello everyone.

My name is Alfredo Doricchi, I'm a Biologist, I live in the North East area of Italy, more specifically in the Dolomites.
I'm not young at all (58 years), anyway a couple years ago I started to feel a strong passion for photography, especially for film photography. Long story short, since then no one day has passed out without some time spent on photography: I started to develop my films by myself, to fix my old cameras (mainly Leica and Nikon for 35 mm, Hasselblad and Rolleiflex for medium format), to study artists works and experimenting different styles of photography.
After two years, I guess I finally know what kind of photography I like the most: landscapes and nature subjects. That's not surprising, as I like the most to explore the mountains and more generally the natural environments.

I like to shot both with 35mm and medium format cameras. Here below a couple of recent pictures:

Rollei 35 S - Ilford FP4 Plus

Zenza Bronica S2 - Ilford FP4 Plus

Well, I guess that's all for the moment. I'm looking forward to participate this forum, I have so much to learn! My kindest regards,
Alfredo Doricchi

Well, then you fit perfectly into this bunch of people. No idea whether such is good or bad...

As biologist and environmentalist you might like threads here as these on edible developers or developers from spices.

AON: :-D I would like to do that. Unfortunately Ferrania's factory it's located fairly far from my house. Anyway I can call them and pull on his ears!

Welcome Alfredo! You have some nice images of trees - you might want to look at the monthly shooting assignment - the current theme is trees and your images would fit in well there.

Hello respected Italians, we Egyptians know them well, they have been living in our country for a long period of time (the days of the Egyptian kingdom)
My father learned from them many methods of organizing life in general and organizing business in particular.
They really do have amazing innate talents

Have you been to the ferrania factory - as long as you live in the north, what it used to be called 'Padinia' or something like that.

Welcome. Lots of fun goings on here. Diverse crown from all over the world. Do you have a darkroom setup with an enlarger? Scan?

Best Regards Mike from Iowa USA

Hi everyone

GY: if you're near my small city (Feltre - BL) just let me know, we may share some thoughts and experiences about photography
Moose: thank you! I don't know if my pics are good enough to participate at the monthly assignment, but I'll give a look at.
mk: thanks for your kind words  I was not in Ferrania factory, imagine Italy like a "T" letter, I live in the right arm, Ferrania factory is in the opposite arm, roughly 500 km from my house. But I would like to visit them, one day.
Mike from Iowa: I didn't have a proper darkroom, sadly :-( I develop my films by myself using a changing bag, a tank and so on, then I digitalize the negatives throughout a "thing" I made by miself, taking pics of the negatives by a digital camera.
Foveon: ciao!

Oh, I forgott to mention I have a passion for leather handcrafting since many years, so it was easy to transfer this passion to the photography. In fact I made my camera straps by myself, here below an example so you may see the process and the final result, hope you like it

Welcome to the nuthouse Alfredo!
I'll be in your part of the world in June, staying on Lake Como before heading south. I'm still trying to figure out if I'll take my 67 film camera or just take a digital. Looking forward to spending a few days photographing around Lake Como.
Maybe we could meet for a vino in Milano?

It seems to me we Europeans and people overseas have a very different idea about what is "nearby".

For us in Canada, a 6 to 8 hour drive is nearby. I often drove from Kurume City to Hiroshima (four hours), and my students thought I was nuts. They would always say, "it's so far, eh"...

The longest car drive I made to meet another fellow from Apug was 3hours one way by car, and to local standards this already was nuts...

Yosemite is just a short four hour drive, so that makes it local.

RT: Grazie! Thanks!
Markbau: do you mean a Pentax 67? This should be perfect for the landscapes around Lake Como! Thanks a lot for the vine, I would like to have it togheter, unfortunately Milan is 3 hours driving from my house :-(
AgX: ahaha yes, I agree
AON: I had an uncle living and working as a teacher in the State of Alberta - Canada. From what he said me, I guess 500-600 kilometers for him was the equivalent as 50-60 kilometers for us here in Europe
SG: Yosemite, ah I would love to see the landscapes of Ansell Adams
Unwanted: hi!

Welcome, from Texas. Where a 4 hour drive is "just down the road" :D
I've been to Italy twice (Rome and its area). Such a stunningly lovely country and people!
