My name is Joe and I currently live in Hampton Roads, Virginia. I have been shooting film since I was about 7 (didn't have decent options for digital in 1997...), and never seemed to adapt well to the realm of digital photography. I have recently begun a journey into large format photography after acquiring a Rochester Optical Standard whole plate with a R. O. Co. #3 lens (don't know very much about it other than surprisingly good quality). Had a rough time finding holders for it and now have one working book style holder for it. I am wandering my way slowly into plate photography.
After a few years of coming by this forum in Google searches, finally decided to join. I hope to find plenty of good info as I make my way into the unknown (to me), as well as possibly helping others.
Welcome to APUG, from another whole plate film user. It's a near-perfect size, IMHO, because the cameras are ALMOST as small as a 5x7, but the film is ALMOST as big as an 8x10, and I like the proportions better than either, as well - not as square as an 8x10, but not as oblong as a 5x7.
